ReNew was created because we saw caregivers around the world pouring themselves into the smallest, weakest, poorest and most vulnerable but never have time for their own rest and restoration.
The HIV/AIDS epidemic across eastern and southern Africa affects millions of individuals. Many of the Local Experts we partner with in the region have devoted themselves to serving the victims of this epidemic.
Many of these Local Experts work long hours, day in and day out. Their daily reality is that many of those they serve are suffering and dying, leaving behind children and families that require care, love and support.
Through ReNew Uganda in January, 2016, over 30 caregivers just like this got the opportunity to enjoy a retreat with times of rest, counseling, prayer, encouragement and support. For many of them, it had been years since they had taken time away from their projects to rest and be strengthened themselves. One participant described ReNew as giving them a space to “breathe” for the first time in a long time. We are excited about how ReNew has encouraged and strengthened Local Experts, and how it contributes to sustainable, effective projects making an impact for the most vulnerable.
