Social Innovators Jane Brenda, Sypora, and Carolyn all ran Celebrating Children Seminars this past quarter in Tanzania, Uganda, and Kenya. Hear some of the impact their training made, as participants share what they learned!
“I am a mother with grown up children. I have been hating my daughter in law and my grandchildren. But I am going back to start a new chapter, I discovered that these are gifts to me and I need to welcome them.
When the facilitator was teaching, I felt like hitting me, they have come for me, God has really been talking to me. I have to change my hatred to unconditional love. We need these workshops at least for two days.” – participant in Uganda
“These teachings are rare. We didn’t know how to care for our children. Am an old man now, I wish my children were still young, but they are not. I would like to take these teachings and apply them to my grandchildren. Nobody taught us how to be good fathers and husbands. What we saw our fathers doing is what we have been doing but now I realize that it wasn’t the right way.
Please come back and teach us again, we want to change.” –participant in Kenya
“After understanding that children are gifts from God, and that right from conception they are in God’s plan, the teachers have been handling the children in a godly manner and even the punishments given are not to harm but to teach the children to become much closer to God. Thank you for bringing more light to our community.”
