Barriers to Education Among the Most Vulnerable
DESCRIPTION:
More than half of children that have not enrolled in school live in sub-Saharan Africa, making it the region with the largest number of out-of-school children in the world. In this region girls still face many barriers to entering both primary and secondary school. These disadvantages in education also translate into lack of access to skills and limited opportunities in the labor market for young women.
Sypora, a social innovator from Kenya, is a passionate teacher who has been working in Tanzania to train other teachers. She faces the reality of 75% literacy in a population of 60 million, of which 45% are children. By training teachers to understand the value of children and their potential while giving Montessori style preschool training, she is truly investing in the future of East Africa. She envisions the multiplication of schools all over the rural regions in Tanzania. The investment of prayer, collaboration of many experts, and development of resources to fund new schools is a way to bring true transformation to the impoverishment of this region.
Please pray for:
- The teachers who are receiving training, that it would directly benefit the children of their region
- For more teachers able to be trained through increased financial provision
